Summer days

so it's been determined my evan's nurse at the dr's that he has hand, foot and mouth. apparantly it's very common in young children/babies in the summer. and it's contagious. according to askdrsears.com (an online baby doctor site i love) it's mostly contagious through the saliva.... hmm who was drooling on him that he caught this virus? who's kid was running around just drooling on everything.. i have no idea but it's funny to imagine. we had all thought he was working on his 2-year molars, which i s'pose it still could have been, but more likely it was the mouth sores associated with the virus. they didn't give us any medicine for it, and it should go away in about a week. i did call the dr's again this mornign to ask if there was anything i can do for the blisters on his feet b/c they seem to be bugging him when he walks (they're on his soles!) poor little guy. he is otherwise fine and happy though, which is all good.

i finally got my first sunburn of the season last week when i went to go visit amy in nh. my back got fried. and from that day it's confirmed that evan has daddy's skin. evan has the french skin that tans and not the pasty scottish skin that burns. thank god. i'm not sure i'd wish it on anyone i care about. i'll never forget the time i burnt my butt falling asleep at the beach by my house... not my whole butt, but the outer parts that were exposed thanks to my suit. i couldn't sit comfortably for days. now i wear those suits that have those little skirts to hide my fat thighs. it's not an old lady one tho.. atleast i don't think so.

evan looks very cute in his babe-in-suit as we say around here. look at that little gut. what a porker. he is so funny these days talking up a storm. mostly words we can't decipher, but it's cute all the same. it's amazing these little kids can learn so much so quickly.

later all, i'm gonna get reading on some HP

musings

hum drum hum drum....

yeah.. i'm bored at the moment. evan's in bed and jason and tyler are watching empire on abc... a show i couldn't get into. i finished reading the Closers by michael connelly and am in the process of waiting for some books of his i bought on ebay to show up at my door, b/c he ismy favorite author. what did you say? what do you mean i have time to read? yeah only after evan goes to b ed, but when the book gets you sucked init's hard to put down and i've been known to let evan run amok in the back yard with the hose dribbling some water while i sit cozy in the chaise looking up once in a while... it's even better when the neighbor's come over to play b/c they keep evan occupied.

i could play my computer game, but it's 10:30 something and that too sucks you in once you play.. hate to stop. altho when you die and reload and realize you haven't saved in a while.. that's usually a good stopping point.

perhaps i'll head up to bed soon.. i've been pooped. that week off of work really did me in i guess... made me lazier, is that a word? oh well... if it's not i'll hear the wrath of nanny in my sleep. always correcting our speech, she was.

evan's doing well with going to bed on his own... he has stopped throwing up due to crying so we've been able to let him calm himself to go to bed... last night was 20 min, and tonight was shy of 15... didn't notice he stopped. oh well. people say it only takes 3 nights. i wonder if tht's just an average.

i have a toy party on sunday at 2:30 you should come. there will be some food there. btw. bring a friend or two. let them bring their babies. i have a kiddie pool they can play in.

jason had a job interview this afternoon at some charter school in fitchburg. jay says it went well, and i hope something good comes of it... altho it is an hour commute. beggers can't be chosers.

i'm grateful i don't have tourists constantly driving me crazy during the summer. sorry mom. sucks for you. but you should be grateful it's only for 3 months and not 9 months of college students being assholes and idiots all over the place. they don't know how to drive, those little snobby brats from CT.

mom, if i don't remeber to mail you out your next dvd, i'll bring it with me when i'm in the area next. how do you like the show? it's addicting... perhaps i should just mail it tomorrow when i'm not working. i'll have to find an envelope.

later, sleepiness is taking over, and i had the need to blog so i did

career change

i need a job change. as much as i would love to do tv stuff, i've accepted the fact that is has to wait... at least to be getting paid for it. i can do stuff at the greenfield tv station, but that requires time. so for months i've been looking in the want ads for jobs, and the other day i thought of real estate. i think i might take the class at Umass or GCC if they have it, and try that. atleast for now while i have a young child. i would like to have another baby soon, but with my current job i would want to be pregnant and be driving all over hell and back all the time. it just wouldn't be pleasant. not to mention the risk that evan was three weeks early... yeah i wouldn't feel safe. so while looking at a house magazine out of boredom i thought perhaps i should get into real estate. it's worth a shot, and hey i might actually enjoy the job.

a graduate in the family

My husband is finally the proud owner of an M.Ed.! now the trick is to find an institution willing to let him use this wonderful piece of paper. odds are getting worse as he gets more letters in the mail. he appied to baout 12 different school districts, but i guess there are tons of people looking to be history teachers. not much we can do but pray i guess.

here is a recent picture of my two main men from when we visited the cape on memorial day weekend. crazy i know, but there was absolutely no traffic... hmmm

in the background you can see the back of my sister's head and her most adorable son james. it's kinda funny how our mom wanted boys and got 2 girls, and now her two girls each have a boy.

not much going on these days other than playing outside with evan and working. wait i lied. we're heading to niagara falls on the 26th. wish us luck with the car ride and a 19-month-old kid. not looking forward to that part of the trip. might as well be driving to millinocket and stay at the cabin. maybe next year who knows.some time in the near future we hope to her from my aunt and uncle about going to their beach house. i think i better email them at work, b/c i emailed them at homelast week and haven't heard anything.

i must run for i have a hungry baby who needs some grub.

We had a good time even though we spent most of our time on the vineyard in some restaurant that took forever to get us our food when it was EMPTY! and then forgot to make two of our meals. it turned out that the chef was being a slow asshole and our waitress who was new was flipping out! mom wrote the name of it down somewhere, so we know not to go there again!
